Homer

This page will be available after we return.

Good one! It HAS been available since 2013. Unfortunately it was blank, but available all the same. I'm gearing up to return to Alaska this summer (2015) and I suddenly realized I never completed Homer or Seward. Opps!  Just a few quick notes on Homer, then I'll let the pictures do the talking. (because L-A-Z-Y. that's why).

We stayed in a really unique place in Homer, a converted caboose now known as the Moose Caboose (Alaska Adventure Cabins) with one of Ron's long lost cousins, and we loved every minute of it. Fabulous view, privacy and great accommodations, what more could you ask? Maybe we should have asked for no kitchen, since I had no excuse not to cook a lot of our meals, and Homer restaurants are fantastic.

We toured the Spit, the East end, visited Homer Brewery (I hope they have improved, it was some bad beer when we went), went halibut fishing and caught two each, left a MIZZOU dollar at the Salty Dog, dined on fish and chips at Captain Pattie's, and just generally relaxed and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Homer -- that little drinking town with a fishing problem. ;)

On the road to/from Homer, we stopped in Soldotna (the Moose is Loose bakery has the best apple fritters I've ever tasted), Kenai/Nikiski for Kassisk's Brewery, Coopers Landing (combat fishing on the Russian River) and Nilichik to visit the old Russian Orthodox Church.
